Sitcoms Your Parents Loved

The concept of sitting down and shutting your brain off to watch half an hour of TV isn't something new. On the contrary, sitcoms have been around almost 100 years. But obviously the same shows haven't been on that whole time. Just like anything else, the sitcoms we enjoy now aren't the same ones previous generations watched, and won't be the same ones future generations will. It's good to look back on what was popular in the past to see how things have changed for better or for worse. So without further adieu, here's a list of some of the shows your parents loved, probably.
No.1; Cheers

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, but sometimes you just want to watch other people do that on the TV, and that's why this show is so great. Whether it's Ted Danson's brilliant performance as the womanizing Sam Malone or that great, great theme song that never gets old, this show has something for everyone.
No.2; The Brady Bunch

Going back to the 70s now we have The Brady Bunch. Before Modern Family we had this, and it was just as good! This show about a big family with 6 children kept everyone captivated as we watched them go through life and learn important lessons every week. It's a very wholesome show until you look into what was happening behind the scenes, but that's a story for another day.
No.3; Three's Company

Oh Three's Company, you loveable, slightly homophobic show. Sadly this American sit-com, based on the British "Man About The House", probably wouldn't air today and if it did it wouldn't be without its controversies. But if you look past that you can see a very fun, humorous show that doesn't take itself too seriously.
No.4; M*A*S*H

This one's a bit of an unconventional one. M*A*S*H was a spin-off from the 1970 film by the same name, which was based on Richard Hooker's 1968 novel MASH: A Novel About Three Army Doctors. You'd think after that many adaptations this show wouldn't have the legs to last, but that wasn't the case as it ran for 11 seasons between 1972 and 1983 and is still loved by many to this day.
No.5; Golden Girls

Golden Girls: The show that's like "Friends", but everyone's old. Audiences everywhere (possibly including your parents) fell in love with these four retired women over the 180 episodes that the show lasted and many would go back and watch it all over again. My plan is to keep watching the show until I'm the same age as the characters.
Thanks for reading! Obviously your parents watched more than 5 shows so expect a part 2 at some stage. Follow our Instagram @officialsitbomb to stay updated on future posts.
